Medicura
A pharmacy stock manager built around a clean Qt interface and a live Oracle connection.
A desktop pharmacy stock manager built with C++ and Qt, connected to an Oracle database. It covers medicine records, stock operations, search, sorting, PDF exports and statistics through a custom Qt interface.
Medicura
The problem
Pharmacy stock is easy to lose track of when records live across spreadsheets and disconnected tools. The app needed to make routine stock work fast while keeping the database as the source of truth.
The approach
Build a C++/Qt desktop application with a considered interface, connected to Oracle through Qt SQL and ODBC, with CRUD, search, sorting and reporting built around the daily pharmacy workflow.
What I built
- ✱Medicine records with full create, read, update and delete flows
- ✱Search and multi-column sorting for finding stock quickly
- ✱Oracle persistence through Qt SQL and the QODBC driver
- ✱PDF exports and statistics for stock reporting
- ✱Qt Designer layouts wired to a C++ data layer
Challenges
Keeping CRUD, filtering and reporting consistent over one Oracle schema
Wiring Qt's SQL layer to Oracle through ODBC without leaking connection details into the interface
Designing a dense desktop UI that still feels quick to scan
What I learned
- ✱Desktop application development with C++ and Qt Widgets
- ✱CRUD and reporting over a relational Oracle database
- ✱Turning a data-heavy workflow into a usable desktop interface
Where it landed
A working pharmacy stock application with CRUD, search, sorting, PDF reports and statistics, delivered as an academic project.
What I'd improve next
Clearer connection error states, a lightweight dashboard, and a packaging pass so the app is easier to install.
